Excavation and shoring of utility repair tunnels under UCSF Laboratory at the UCSF Mission Bay Campus. Work involved excavation of tunnels approximately 950′ in total length (Typical tunnel dimension was 6’W x 6’H). Demolition of utilities within tunnel footprint, handling and offhaul of Class2 soils material, dewatering in an area with a high groundwater table, coordination with multiple sub trades and working on an active campus with extremely restricted access. All work occurred while maintaining service to the laboratory building. BIM modeling and lean scheduling methods were utilized on this project.
